Eco-innovation: Limiting waste during use
Published on 10/04/2023

A source of innovation and a generator of value, eco-design is an approach that makes it possible to reduce negative impacts on the environment by analysing the product's life cycle.

One of the many ways to eco-design a cosmetic product is to limit waste during use.

Innovation is therefore needed to improve the product's restitution rate.
Over the last few months, we have seen a number of initiatives involving the use of an aluminium tube press key by brands such as Absolution, Krème and the L'OCCITANE Group.

Here, Head & Shoulders, part of the Procter & Gamble Group, is proposing a packaging innovation for its Bare - Minimal ingredients shampoo. This new product, launched last May in the USA, contains just 9 ingredients and required hundreds of tests to achieve its sensoriality and effectiveness.
It is packaged in a bottle containing 46% less plastic than its standard 370 ml counterpart, and is recyclable. What's more, it can be rolled up like a tube to catch the last drops.
