Eco-innovate: A cosmetic active from decomposition of plants

I discovered this little-used cosmetic ingredient thanks to the recent product FULVIC IONIC - MINERAL FACE AND SCALP TONER from the lovely Polish brand OIO LAB, run by Joanna Ryglewicz.

Combined with fermented minerals, this mist delivers a powerful dose of bio-available nutrients to promote a healthy skin environment, essential for a diverse microbiome, resilient skin and strong hair.

This organic acid, a member of the humic acid family, is a natural organic substance found in humus: earth produced by the decomposition of plants.

It has a low molecular weight, high biological activity and contains over 70 types of minerals and trace elements. It helps to neutralise toxins and transport nutrients to skin cells.

Its moisturising, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties are particularly beneficial for sensitive skin.

This ingredient is also found in an older product: FULVIC ACID CLEANSER by The Inkey List, which claims to use 0.5% Nordic Peat, naturally rich in fulvic acid, which acts as a powerful antioxidant with anti-inflammatory properties.
